Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! I sure did! :) So much for posting more in December though. I certainly did not expect the month to be as busy as it was, I guess I forgot how hectic the holiday season can become!
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have been working on some little crafty projects! I decided to make Christmas presents for a few of my friends this year because I’ve always thought handmade gifts were more thoughtful than buying them. I taught myself how to crochet just to make these gifts. It wasn’t very hard to learn, although it was very time consuming at first. The crafts that I made are called Amigurumi and it’s the Japanese art of crocheting animals out of yarn!

This is the first amigurumi that I made, an adorable baby seal! I gave this one to my lovely friend Arlene.

I made this kitty cat for my friend Claire! I really love the whiskers. This was my second crochet project and it’s when I started to get the hang of things.

Sorry for the horrible quality photo, it was taken on my phone because I didn’t get a chance to take a proper picture of it before giving it to my friend Cass! She’s a fan of zombies and the both of us always hang out and kill zombies together! >:)
If you are interested in making crafts like these, here are the two books that I used to make them. The first is called ‘Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts!: Amigurumi’ and there some very adorable animals in there. The second is ‘Creepy Cute Crochet: Zombies, Ninjas, Robots, and More!’ which I referenced/altered to make the zombie.

Another extremely helpful resource I used is the website ‘Hooks and Needles‘. It was really good in explaining certain crochet methods to a newbie like me! Also, I bought all of my yarn/eyes from Michaels craft store and I found some super cheap crochet needles from a dollar store. Good luck if you plan on trying this!

Hey there! So I’ve been poking at my site over the past week and been adding some tweaks here and there. Nothing too drastic, just some little improvements to the site. I’ll go through all the changes I’ve made in this post…
1. Threaded comments with avatars

In the comments section of all the blog posts, you are now able to reply to other comments! Those comments will be nested underneath the comment that you’ve replied to, and then someone else can reply to that comment you made. You get it? I’ve set to nest three comments at the most. I hope some of you will take advantage of this new feature! I know I will use it to respond to the comments you guys make! :) WP Thread Comment Plugin
Also, I’ve also added avatars to be shown with each comment author. The images that are shown are called Gravatars, which means Globally Recognized avatar. Many blogs and websites use Gravatars in their comments and it’s a great way to identify yourself. You can get yourself one here: www.gravatar.com
2. Navigation links at the top (and bottom) of the page.

I’ve added navigational links at the top of the page, and also where the footer is. They are links to Home, the new About and Contact page and another link to subscribe to my blog via RSS.
3. New ‘About’ and ‘Contact’ pages

I figured out how to design different page templates in WordPress, and have created an About page and a Contact me page. I used this Contact Form 7 plugin to create my form. It was a lot easier than making a form from complete scratch with validation and everything! Thanks to komodomedia
for designing the fancy icons which I’ve used on my contact page.
4. Favicon

My website now has a favicon! (A favicon is the image that appears next to the website address in the address bar, and also shows up in your favorites menu etc.) It’s something I forgot to add when I first launched my site’s redesign in July. I took the flower from my logo-ish thing that I have at the top of the page and created the .ico file on this website: http://www.favicon.cc.
5. Twitter profile background

I’ve added a background to my twitter profile to match with this website! I took my cosmobear and also added my twitter birdy to it’s paw. I really hope everyone’s resolution is larger than 1024px, otherwise you won’t be able to see it!
I’ll have more stuff to add to the site later but that’s about it for now. Another thing I’d like to note is that I really hope no one on here is viewing this site with Internet Explorer 6 because it just looks pretty terrible in that old browser! I highly recommend it to be viewed in Firefox. ♥ :)
Get Firefox!
